The Division of Professional Licensing, also known as DOPL, is one of seven agencies within the Utah Department of Commerce. Currently, DOPL issues licenses in approximately 60 categories of licensure, including Contractors, Plumbers, and Electricians, to name a few.

Professional licensure requires each applicant to meet some minimum standard for his or her respective profession. While there are many avenues to ensure you hire the right professional for your home project, one of the first steps should be to verify the professional is licensed.

DOPL offers a free online service called Verify a License. You can search any name, any time, to find out if an individual holds an active license. Remember to Verify before you hire!
